Dear Editor:
The Mayor of Jersey City received nearly 17,000 votes on May 12. Witch hunter number one gathered roughly 1700. If witchhunter number one cared so much about Jersey City, why does he operate his family business out of town? So much for living where you work. And then there’s witchhunter number two: “Come to City Hall; bring all your friends and Kids!” To get little children involved? Talk about corruption? Corrupting the mind of a child? Now that’s “corrupt.” This was purely the type of politicalizing for-patronage that they falsely claim to be against; and it was taken on in an opportunist way as a result of the misery of people. The dirt that needs to be swept by the broom is that off the chins of these witchhunters themselves. Here is my mega phone. Right here. The disrespect that was shown toward the family of my friend and former classmate Marc Dinardo has this Jersey City boy feeling more anger than all those yuppies and republicans in disguise put together. It was appropriate some signs read the word “shame.” Only the message was backward. These people are not activists, they are pessimists. None of this fiasco was conducted as a protest or demonstration. It was self serving civil disorder. So goad the cattle somewhere else and any cloud that moves over Jersey City will soon be broken by the sun making the sky blue again.
My guess is that the Feds nabbed one, two at the most, out of each ten they targeted under the jumpstart and careful watch of the republican challenger in the race for N.J. Governor ‘09. This is a coincidence George W. Bush would be proud of.
What I find to be bothersome is that the 17,000 or so voters don’t sign a petition stating their faith and belief in the Mayor and his great effort to guide the city through a troublesome and difficult time. The people around the Mayor should at least consider a rally in support. It might, possibly, be a good idea. The Mayor should be entitled to get back to business under the corporate seal and these witchhunters find another fight to pick. Stop with the violin already. Let the court serve and determine justice. That’s what it’s there for. I wonder where these letters from witchhunter number one resonated from anyway. Are they legitimate petitions with a name printed clearly and a signature? How many really live in Jersey City? Do they even vote? If the letters aren’t valid, witchhunter number one ought to be prosecuted himself for attempt to incite a riot, an attempt that failed! I conceive the frustration of the public. I understand the irritation they feel. But this is Jersey City 2009 and not Salem 1692.
