Dear Editor:
To All Hobokenites: Yes, Mr. Soares as you said in a letter in last week’s Reporter, I did in fact address the council Aug. 5, but it had nothing to do with my being “criticized on the ‘blogs’.”
For those interested in the facts you can see and hear exactly what I said by going to http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/1933432 and start rolling the tape at 1 hour 17 minutes.
There you will hear my poorly worded attempt to chastise certain elected officials who have under their own names wrongly accused me of slander.
Let me again state categorically that I do not post and rarely read that trash. Why would I when it is well known that I say publically what I think and will say it to your face? My problem is that high up on the list of my many faults is the fact that I am rarely diplomatic in my delivery. For that I apologize and will endeavor to do better.
Tony is half right when he says “quit the mudslinging” but only that directed toward Dawn Zimmer. He would be 100 percent right if called for the mudslinging from all quarters to stop. Election or no, it is time each of us to put our egos in check, chuck our enemies list, stiffen our spine and quit wasting time and energy on these scurrilous boards or otherwise rebuking each other.
In that light I ask all good citizens and all public officials to instead put your shoulder to the wheel in a collective, civil effort to move our beloved city out of its dysfunctional state. I’m starting today and invite all to join me.
Sincerely,
James Vance
