A funeral mass was offered Aug. 27 at St. Joseph of the Palisades R.C. Church, West New York, for Angel Fernandez, 67. He passed away Aug. 22 at Albany Medical Center surrounded in the love, care, and dedicated support of his family and friends. Born in Placetas, Cuba, Angel came to the United States in 1958 and settled in North Bergen. Angel shared his love with his wife, Lina, for 47 years. Their marriage represented a wholesome love built on respect for family. Always a dreamer, he connected with everyone he met. His passion for life and its wonders were recognized by all. The Catskill Mountains and the outdoors represented one of Angel’s dreams and passions. Over the past 20 years, he, along with his family, built a spectacular home with his own hands in Fleischmanns, N.Y. Angel’s craftsmanship and skills were highly admired. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Fernandez MacLaney; son-in-law, Bill; his grandchildren, Abigail and Sean; loving son, Osvaldo “Pachi” Lleonart; daughter-in-law, Marilyn; and grandson, Jacob. Angel, known as Abu to his grandchildren, lived his life dedicated to his precious grandchildren. They will miss him dearly, as will his family and friends.
