When Terry Kinney of North Bergen was diagnosed with cancer two months ago, she was forced to rely on state Charity Care since she had no health insurance.
Her coworker and friend, Stephanie Jacobs, said that Kinney had been working at Houlihan’s Restaurant in Weehawken when she found out she had lung cancer.
Her cancer has spread to her tissue, vertebrae and brain, said Jacobs.
Jacobs said that at first, her coworkers put money together to pay for her rent, but then decided that they had to do something more for Kinney and her three children.
On Sunday Aug. 30 at 8 p.m., at the Wild Rover Pub, located at 7103 Park Ave. in Guttenberg, there will be a fundraiser to benefit Kinney and her family. Jacobs said that there will be three live bands, giveaways, food and beer.
Treach of Naughty by Nature is supposed to be attending the event as well.
There will be no fee to enter the bar, but food and drinks will be $30 per person.
