Acting Mayor Dawn Zimmer said today that embattled former Mayor Peter Cammarano should return payment for 12 vacation days totalling over $4,000.
“He doesn’t deserve those payments,” she said. “I think that he should return that money to the city.”
Cammarano was paid over $12,000 for just 22 and a half days in office, including a years’ worth of vacation days.
“We’re looking at all of our options,” Zimmer said about recouping some of the money.
The city paid out the vacation days based on “past practices,” but she said there isn’t a “clear policy” on the issuance of vacation days.
Zimmer said the City Council may consider legislative changes. — TJC
