As noted below, Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano was in office for less than a month, but he was compensated for 12 days of vacation that he would have gotten as a full-time city employee. He earned nearly $13,000 including his salary, a personal day (the day he was arrested), and three weeks’ vacation.
The Associated Press is a bit perplexed, and focused on that aspect of the story.
“A North Jersey mayor who resigned following his arrest on federal corruption charges has been paid for unused vacation days even though he served only one month in office.
“City payroll records, obtained Tuesday by The Jersey Journal, indicate former Hoboken mayor Peter Cammarano received more than $4,200 for 12 unused vacation days. A city spokesperson said all city employees are entitled to 12 days of paid vacation.”
