GREENE, CHARLES

Funeral services were held Aug. 18 at Monumental Baptist Church, Jersey City, for Charles “Johnny” Greene, the son of the late Harley Green and Esseline G. Green. He died Aug. 10. He was born in Charleston, S.C. He lived on Johns Island, S.C. before residing in Jersey City, where he spent the past four decades. Charles joined the Armed Forces in the mid 1960s to proudly serve his country. He attended Eastern Technical Institute where he studied in the medical field. His long term battle with sickle cell anemia is finally over but his loving nature and free spirit lives on. He leaves to celebrate his life one daughter, Alicia Starks; one granddaughter, Shaniyah; two sisters, Victoria Friday and Juanita Strader; three godchildren, Ressie Charles, Leonard Green and Florence Green; longtime friend, Shelly Brown; a host of nieces and nephews, grand and great grandnieces and nephews, other relatives and an abundance of friends. Services arranged by the Jackson Funeral Residence, Jersey City.
