Dear Editor:
Every year the “Night Out Against Crime” campaign goes unrecognized in the Township of Weehawken. It seems that town officials won’t observe this anti-crime operation because they do not want anyone to think there is crime in this town. Well unfortunately there is crime in town. Crime prevention should be a topic discussed often not ignored.
For those residents not in the know, which I think many already know, there have been break-ins, robberies and even confidence artists getting into people’s homes and apartments and stealing. This has happened at least three times within the last year over on Highpoint Avenue. Not one word about it in the local papers. They had a cop on the beat, but that didn’t last long – haven’t seen him on Gregory, Hudson or Palisade Avenues for some time now. It’s like they don’t want anyone to know or even think that this might be a problem. Well, I think if more people were aware of this situation, more people might keep there eyes wide open and report suspicious goings on. Why the big secret, Mayor?
