A city with so much open space

Dear Editor:
During the past few months, I have been excited to witness the progress of Firefighters Memorial Park, which will be comprised of an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a children’s pool and water sprayers for kids. During the course of the past few years, local children have been fortunate to have many recreational play spaces afforded to them.
Parks are vital to keep our children safe offering constructive outlets, especially at a time when dangers exist such as drugs, gangs and violence. Mayor Brian Stack understands these threats and continues to work to ensure that children the local youth can engage in positive activities.
Also, while we reside in an urban environment, I remain satisfied by the amount of open space, both active and passive, that has been created for all residents. I am consistently impressed by open space offerings that are made to both children and adults. Union City has spectacular views, making passive sitting areas enjoyable and unique when the skyline is available for residents to see.
I am proud to call Union City my home. While I am a city-dweller, I am happy to reside in a city with so much open space.

Sincerely,
Alicia Morejon
Resident
