No excuse for those who aren’t informed about local politics

Dear Editor:
While I really appreciated your printing the heartfelt responses of Hobokenites about disgraced ex-mayor Peter Cammarano, I was astonished to read that several people mentioned they had “no idea who Dawn Zimmer was.” It’s not difficult to find information about any of the candidates online or in the paper or even going to their headquarters and talking to whoever is there.
Doing your homework before you choose to cast your vote (and shame on the person who said his long working hours precluded him voting) is the obligation of every citizen. Do we get the government we deserve? If we choose to be uninformed and/or not vote in November’s important election, then just maybe we do. If we want to avoid another Cammarano, vote, and know who you are voting for.
