Gov. Jon Corzine’s executive order freezing development applications for towns with arrested elected officials will only apply to Ridgefield, apparently, since their mayor has declined to step down.
It won’t apply to Hoboken, Secaucus or Jersey City after all.
Reuters reports:
” ‘The executive order would direct every department, agency and authority of the state to freeze all applications, permits or approvals for development in municipalities where a mayor charged with corruption has not yet resigned,” Corzine’s spokesman Robert Corrales said by e-mail.”
Well, it seems pretty obvious what he’s trying to do, since that applies to only one town!
