Council President Dawn Zimmer was sworn in as acting mayor at a City Hall ceremony at noon. She said the recent arrest of Mayor Peter Cammarano was “traumatic” for the citizens of Hoboken, and she promised to keep going on the right path.
She said she will continue to push for the City Council to take back the appointment power for Zoning Board members, a power that was taken away from them in the 1990s and given to the mayor. Cammarano had been fighting against Zimmer’s proposed change.
