Hal Turner’s Connecticut Case transferred

Harold ‘Hal’ Turner, a North Bergen-based white supremacist and hate blogger who has gained recent notoriety for allegedly urging his followers to take up arms against law makers, was not present at his most recent Connecticut court hearing last week.
According to his Connecticut lawyer, Matthew Potter, Turner was not present in court because he is still being held on federal charges in Chicago. Turner had posted names, photos, and addresses of two U.S. District judges in Chicago after they refused to appeal a local law that banned gun ownership in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.
Potter said that Turner’s case was transferred from “Part B” of the Connecticut Superior Court’s division, to “Part A,” where more serious matters are heard.
Potter said that Turner is due back in court on Aug. 4.

Mercedes Benz cars gone in ‘60 seconds’

According to North Bergen Lt. Frank Cannella, commander of the Detective Bureau, six or more Mercedes-Benz cars, each worth more than $100,000, were stolen over July 4 weekend.
Cannella said that sometime between 11:30 p.m. July 3 and 3:30 a.m. on July 4, an estimated six cars were stolen from the Mercedes-Benz Manhattan, Inc. lot, located on 16th Street, close to Secaucus Road in North Bergen.
Cannella said that Mercedes-Benz Manhattan is still doing an internal investigation and that the total number of vehicles stolen is not known yet. He also said that the F.B.I. has assisted North Bergen Police and will continue to aid them with the investigation.
Cannella said that the dealer told him that the cars were S63s, which retail around $138,000.
“They had to know the layout of the property,” said Cannella, who explained that they thieves still not set off the motion sensor running along the fence line.
One of the cars was already abandoned in Passaic, said Cannella. Another vehicle was also abandoned, but Cannella declined to say where it was discovered.
Cannella said that the first car had scratches along the driver’s side and that the second vehicle was completely intact, except for a missing windshield.
“It appears that they had some type of internal security issue,” said Cannella.
He said that they have located surveillance video from a nearby factory and that police are currently working on several leads. Six headlights were visible in the video, but Cannella said that more cars may be missing. – Tricia Tirella

Drasheff said that there will be another concert later this summer with Larry Chance and the Earls. He said that Vance’s performance cost the town between $7,000 and $7,500. He said that the two concerts almost cost the same as last year’s concert.
