Dear Editor:
Good deeds deserve to be mentioned. On that note, I would like to take a moment to recognize an individual who works tirelessly to promote and ensure the safety and well being of one of the most important elements of our community; its youth.
This past weekend, our church held a street fair to kickoff the registration for our upcoming Vacation Bible School, a week long outreach program for children in our church as well as our community. As anticipated, we had a very large turnout which went very smoothly thanks to the presence of members of the Union City Police Department and North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue Departments. Their rapport with the community is worth mentioning, as it helped with fire safety education, as well as reinforcing the importance of community relations and the fact that police officers are not our enemies, but the neighborhood’s protectors and friends.
This would not have been possible without the support of our Mayor, Brian P. Stack, who has always been supportive of our church and its programs. Not only did he approve our request in a timely manner, he ensured that our event was a safe and memorable one for everyone in attendance. We know how busy he is, but yet he always makes time to help us help others.
On behalf of my congregation, I would like to thank you, Mayor Stack, for your continued support and for your tireless efforts to make the City of Union City a great place to live!
God bless,
Rev. Raul Ruiz
Pastor, Spanish American Baptist Church
