UPDATE: Deceased suspect in JC shooting was sought for robbery

According to published reports, the two Jersey City suspects who were killed in an exchange of gunfire with police early Thursday morning were under police surveillance because at least one of them was a suspect in an armed robbery last month.
Police had learned that someone moved the suspect’s car each morning to avoid a parking ticket, according to reports. While police waited, the male suspect came outside.
When police asked him to stop, he allegedly pulled out a stolen shotgun. In an exchange of gunfire, he and his girlfriend were killed.
Two police officers were in critical condition Thursday night. Six others had been wounded, three from gunshots.
According to the Star-Ledger, “Authorities tonight were gathered at Jersey City Medical Center to pray and offer their support for the most seriously injured officers, Marc DiNardo, 37, a 10-year veteran who was shot twice in the face, and Michael Camacho, 25, a five-year veteran who was shot in the neck.
“Both were in critical condition. Camacho, officials said, was expected to survive. DiNardo, with more severe injuries, had a ‘fighting chance,’ Mayor Jerramiah Healy said. DiNardo’s heart stopped several times before he was stabilized, officials said.”
