Funeral services were held July 3 at Our Lady of Grace R.C. Church, Hoboken, for Gerald Patrick McKnight of North Bergen, formerly of Hoboken. He passed away June 29 at the age of 66. He was born in Hoboken before moving to North Bergen in 1970. Gerald was a school teacher for the city of Hoboken for nine years and also the city of North Bergen for five years. Gerald graduated from Our Lady of Grace Grammar School and graduated form A.J. Demarest High School. He was an avid football player for Hoboken during his childhood years. His undergraduate studies were at St. Mary of the Plains in Kansas where he earned his bachelors of arts in education. He then attended the Jersey City State University and received his master’s degree in political science. Gerald was an U.S. Army Reserve veteran for several years and prior to teaching he was employed with U.S. Naval Intelligence as an investigator for a division of the CIA. Gerald is survived by his sister Marguerite A. McKnight of New York; Hoboken Funeral Director John McKnight Jr., and his wife Bernardina; his nephew Hoboken Funeral Director David John McKnight and his wife Katya, and his great nephew David John Jr. He is also survived by a host of cousins. Gerald was predeceased by his parents, retired Hoboken Fireman John F. McKnight and his wife Paulina (nee: D’Aniello). He was also predeceased on the same day by his brother Rev. Robert J. McKnight.
