According to a local daily newspaper, NJ Transit is actually helping shuttle people into Hoboken so they can see the Macy’s fireworks this weekend. The Star-Ledger reports:
“NJ Transit is providing extra service to accommodate the Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks. There will be 11 additional trains in and out of Hoboken Terminal on the Morris & Essex Lines, including six trips between Gladstone and Hoboken and five trips between Summit and Hoboken. The extra trains will provide direct service to and from Hoboken, with no transfer required between trains.
“Three trains scheduled to depart Hoboken between 9-10 p.m. will depart approximately 30 minutes later than normal. Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, which services Hoboken Terminal, Liberty State Park and several stations along the Waterfront, will operate all two-car trains.
“The New Jersey Department of Transportation is suspending construction on state highways from 6 a.m. today to noon on Monday. NJDOT will extend the hours of operation of the Statewide Emergency Service Patrols, over the holiday weekend, which helps stranded drivers with extra gas, tire changes and other services.”
