Dear Editor:
On behalf of the Democrats for Change in Secaucus, we would like to take this opportunity to thank ALL of our committee people, supporters, families, and friends, for their time, sacrifices and dedication in helping the Democrats for Change in Secaucus.
It is very rewarding to know that so many of our residents believe we must change the direction our town is going in. We kicked off our campaign on February 8, 2009, and it began a movement this Town has not seen before. By the time we filed our petitions on April 6, 2009, we had twenty (26) six county committee candidates, two council candidates and a mayoral candidate, and many, many supporters. We put together a great organization of people which became an extended family. We addressed the issues of open and transparent government, over spending, mismanagement, quality of life, and fear and intimidation of town workers and residents. While we came up a little short on June 2, 2009, (forty four [44 percent] percent of the vote), we sent a clear message to the administration. That message is: We will not sit back and watch. We will put the people of Secaucus first, and we will continue to push and fight for what is right. We are not stopping. We will continue to be an advocate for the people and address the issues that affect ALL OF US. The present administration is well aware of one major fact: many democratic voters do not agree with their policies and behavior, and voiced their dissatisfaction by voting for change. A change in the way our government is run, a change in the attitude, a change from secretive to openness, a change from wasteful spending to being accountable, a change from being arrogant to respectful, a change from dictating to listening, a change from fear and intimidation to freedom of speech and respect. Changes that every resident of Secaucus is entitled to by the State and Federal Constitutions, as a matter of right. The Democrats for Change in Secaucus are here to stay and are growing. The Primary election may be over, but our purpose and goals will continue on.
Thank you.
Peter Weiner, Susan Pirro, and Joseph Morano.
