Support Mayor Dennis Elwell

Dear Neighbor,

I am writing this letter to ask you to support our Mayor, Dennis Elwell in the upcoming Democratic primary on June 2nd and in the general election in November. I don’t usually do this, but I truly believe that Mayor Dennis Elwell is the best candidate for the job.

Let me tell you why…

*Mayor Dennis Elwell is sincere. This man is not on a power trip. He is a lifelong resident of Secaucus. He’s running for Mayor again because he loves this town and its people. Ask him and he’ll tell you, “What can I do for Secaucus?”

*Mayor Dennis Elwell is intelligent and knowledgeable. He knows the history of Secaucus inside and out. It’s crucial to know where you came from in order to get where you need to go. Dennis Elwell understands what it takes to get things done and knows the people needed to implement these ideas.

*Mayor Dennis Elwell has a track record of putting up the good fight for Secaucus. He is a decorated Vietnam combat veteran and a recipient of the Navy Presidential Unit Citation and Army Meritorious Commendation. Mayor Elwell serves his office with the same honor and distinction that he served our country. He routinely stands up to the Meadowlands Commission for Secaucus residents. Do you know that the Meadowlands Commission controls 88% of our town? I took 8 months for them to give approval for Harmon Cove II to install a fence along Meadowlands Parkway. We need Dennis Elwell to continue as our loyal advocate. He fights Meadowlands Commission revenue sharing, which causes you and I to incur additional tax burdens.

*Mayor Dennis Elwell has a record of encouraging business development, which brings more ratable and lower taxes, so we have more money to spend on programs with less cost to the taxpayers. He supports building our infrastructure, which creates jobs. This is what President Obama is trying to do too.

*Mayor Dennis Elwell stands up for those being treated unfairly. He openly supports gay marriage. In fact, Secaucus is probably one of the most gay friendly towns around. Mayor Elwell stood up to the firemen who ran a gay couple out of town and cost us millions of dollars. He was disgusted by their behavior and would not tolerate it and he refused to brush it under the rug. Mayor Elwell would like to prevent something like this from ever happening again by making certain the department has proper oversight and training.

*Under Mayor Elwell’s leadership, many seniors who used to have to choose between medicine and food can now take advantage of the discount prescription program.

*Secaucus is one of the safest communities in New Jersey. Mayor Elwell has expanded police services and as a result, the crime rate has reduced significantly.

*Mayor Elwell has led the effort to build a beautiful new recreation center, modernized library and free summer concerts in the park. All this and low taxes too!

We need a Mayor who accessible to us, willing to listen to our concerns and not afraid to make sure the taxpayers’ voices are heard. It’s amazing that he’s been able to do so much… and there’s still so much more to do. Secaucus is one of the best places to live because Mayor Elwell has been diligently working for 10 years to make it that way.

You have your own mind to make up, but I hope you will consider the Mayor’s record and accomplishments for us. The mayoral challenger in the primary offers no details about his plan to “Change Secaucus,” only generalized complaints about Mayor Elwell’s good work. The Independent candidate wants to “Take Back Secaucus” to how it was thirty to forty years ago. Let’s compare the records rather than the rhetoric. Mayor Elwell has proven results. We need a Mayor who will continue to move Secaucus forward. We need Dennis Elwell, a Mayor for the People.

Please vote for Dennis Elwell and his running mates, Deputy Mayor John Reilly, Councilwoman Dawn McAdam and Frank Trombetta.

Thank you,

Nina C. Remson
