A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated May 16 at Queen of Peace Church, North Arlington, for Lenore “Lee” Montone, 86, of Lighthouse Point, Fla., and previously Jersey City. She passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 12, surrounded by close family. Lenore was born in Wilkes Barre, Pa., and was the daughter of Peter and Marie Macarelli. She graduated from Coughlin High School in 1942. Lenore served her country as a U.S. Navy WAVE during World War II, when she sang in a band entertaining troops in the USO. Her picture was posted across the nation in an effort to recruit women into the Navy. Lenore spent the majority of her life as a homemaker, raising her five children. She was an accomplished Scrabble player and a proud local tournament champion. Her family was her passion and her close friends were considered family. Most of all, she loved spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. Lenore will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by the love of her life, her husband of sixty-three years and high school sweetheart, Valentino “Val” Montone; by her daughter Lynn Krasuski and husband Richard; her son Anthony “Tony” Montone; her daughters Susan Montone and Valerie Montone and close friend Richard Harrison. Also, her four grandchildren Marc Krasuski and wife Tracy, Jill Krasuski, Kevin Montone and Leigh Montone, sisters and brother-in-law, Claire Macarelli, Angie and Joseph Alfieri, Aunt, Yolanda Gaurine and many loving nieces and nephews.
