Mismanagement of funds

Dear Editor,
I had to write after I got numerous fliers and a new print out of my new tax bill from West New York. Apparently I am supposed to be jumping for joy over a 19% decrease from the last bill. Well, Mr. Vega and commissioners, I would like to let you know that while some may hail this as welcome news it seems to me that you are trying to put a ribbon on a bum deal and expect people to fall for it. Who do you think you are kidding? You raise taxes by double digit increases two years in a row and then you “give” back part of it? Come on, that is like robbing most of my home and returning a few boards and expecting me to thank you for it. Let’s get real. West New York is suffering from mismanagement of funds and now from your administration’s pillaging its citizens.
I couldn’t help but notice on a recent stroll past Donnelly Park that the sign that used to welcome people into West New York has been removed from its post. It really doesn’t surprise me because it’s refrain of this being a nice place to live and shop no longer holds true.
No, Mr. Vega, I won’t rejoice over the reduction of a 47% tax increase by 19%. Thievery albeit discounted is still thievery. When I see the place I grew up in start to resemble the decent place it used to be with parks in repair, streets that are clean and in good condition then maybe I will consider taking my hat off to you. Right now I am still contemplating gestures that demonstrate my disgust and anger at this entire situation.

Respectfully,
