Funeral services were held May 18 for Paul Freitag, 67. He passed away May 13 in Livingston. He was born in Teaneck, raised in North Bergen, attended North Bergen schools, St. Peter’s Prep School in Jersey City, and went on to the University of Bridgeport, in Connecticut. He married and settled in Guttenberg for 12 years before moving to Cedar Grove, where he has been a resident for over 30 years. Paul was the MIS Manager for the Best Foods Baking Group, retiring in 2001. After he retired, he worked as a crossing guard for the town of Cedar Grove, and in his spare time he was an avid baker, founding PKF Baking, displaying his creations at craft fairs all over the county. Paul was a member of the Guttenberg Fire Department for 12 years and the Cedar Grove Fire Department for over 30 years. He also was a member of the Cedar Grove Elks, Chairman to the Cedar Grove Cable TV Committee, the Cedar Grove Kiwanis, and the Cedar Grove Jay Cee’s. He was the husband of 47 years to Kathleen (Grazioli) Freitag, formerly of Weehawken; the father of Amanda Freitag, of Brooklyn, Justin Freitag and his wife Oksana, of Tucson, Ariz., and Jason Freitag and his wife Karla, of Ithaca, N.Y. He was the grandfather of Elizabeth and Megan Freitag, of Ithaca, N.Y. Services arranged by Shook’s Cedar Grove Funeral Home, Cedar Grove.
