Dear Editor:
Being somewhat intrigued by recent editorial “begging” for parkland in North Bergen on River Road, I took a ride to the referenced location.
Do you know there is in existence atop the Palisades JJ Braddock County Park – 200 acres?
Do you know there are in existence several more acres – 10 – 15, of safeguarded land for a bird sanctuary?
Do you know there are several very well maintained parks with unobstructed views all along North Bergen’s Boulevard East?
Do you know the Boulevard is impeccably maintained and road crews are repairing curbs and sidewalks along North Bergen Boulevard?
The non developed banks of the Hudson River are in disarray and smell. The land to its west is full of overgrown weeds, and when able, homeless people live there.
I wonder what the nature lovers are really looking at. I wonder why, with that mind set, nature lovers have not put roots down in Western New Jersey. Perhaps, as they know, nowhere else do you receive municipal services for the price aka taxes as in North Bergen.
Sincerely,
Jeanine
