Olu Howard, the president of the Hamilton Park Neighborhood Association (HPNA), based in Downtown Jersey City, addressed the recent controversy regarding a HPNA member who allegedly was asked to apologize to the HPNA for expressing her views on City Councilman Steven Fulop and her support for his opponent Guy Catrillo several days before Wednesday’s Ward E City Council debate, organized by the HPNA.
His response can be found on the JCList website at this specific thread. The story about this situation, first reported by the Hudson Reporter, can also be found on this thread, as well as the woman’s explanation of what allegedly happened to her.
Howard also spoke to the Hudson Reporter on Friday and called what allegedly took place to be an “unimportant” controversy. Howard said what was more important to him is that he may have lost the friendship of the woman in question, his neighbor, who has since stepped down from the HPNA board.
“It’s upsetting that she is not working with us anymore, we definitely lost out,” Howard said. “And it is unfortunate.” – Ricardo Kaulessar
