POLETTI, ALFRED

A memorial service for Alfred August Poletti, 83, will be held at St. Matthew Trinity, in Hoboken, at a time later to be announced. He died at the Harborage Health Care, North Bergen, on May 3. He was a lifelong resident of Hoboken. Al was a lifelong member of St. Matthew Trinity Lutheran Parish, in Hoboken, where he served on the Church Council and acted as a financial secretary for many decades. He attended worship at St. Matthew Trinity faithfully, until his death, and was a trusted and loved elder of the Church. His friendly face and welcoming handshake will be missed at St. Matthew Trinity. Al worked as a manager for the A&P food stores, in many various locations in Hudson and Bergen Counties and was also a salesman for Kraft Foods. Al served in the U.S. Army during World War II, including battles in the Philippines and the second wave at Guadalcanal; he was also wounded and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was the son of the late Elizabeth Poletti and husband of the late Ruth Poletti. He is also survived by a cousin, Bernard Schwarz and many friends. Services arranged by the Lawton-Turso Funeral Home, Hoboken.
