Change is what Hoboken needs, vote Mason

Dear Editor:
This Mayoral election is the first where no “born and raised” resident is leading a ticket. Hoboken will soon have a mayor that was neither born nor raised here. Bob Dylan once said, “Times they are a-changing.” Change is exactly what Hoboken needs in these critical economic time.

No longer can we afford to be influenced by where someone is born or raised, but instead we need look at their leadership abilities and potential for problem solving. There will be those who will resort to scaring you into believing if you vote for Beth Mason it will mean the end of the world, but don’t be fooled.
I’ve known Beth Mason long before she was an elected official. Her tenacity for getting things done has always impressed me as has her willingness to engage differing opinions across the board on a variety of topics. For over 25 years Beth and her husband Ricky have called Hoboken “home.” I trust that she will fight for everyone to make sure our home is protected and made strong.
I’ve seen Beth’s heart as a mom. She brings a commitment and compassion for all within in Hoboken and the intellect to solve the fiscal mess we face. With Beth, Hoboken will have a leader we can trust to make the hard decisions that will enable everyone to continue to afford to live in Hoboken in these trying economic times.
Raul Morales, Jr. represents the promise of old and new Hoboken. I’m proud of not only his achievements, but his sheer drive to help make Hoboken a better place to live. He is bright, motivated and receptive to listening to the concerns of all. His character is par none and he represents the best of what Hoboken’s future has to offer – someone who understands it’s past, but also is prepared to fight for its future.
I’ve know Vinnie Addeo and Anthony Pasquale for many years. I respect their countless talents and service to our community. Vinnie and Anthony bring a mixture of experience, commitment and ability that will serve this town well. Word limitations prevent me from doing so, but I can recite what many of you already know – both Vinnie and Anthony will do what is right for the people of Hoboken.
Together this team represents a ticket that is young and old, diverse in experience and hopeful in potential. In them I vest my faith that they’ll do what is best and right for Hoboken.
I ask you to join me, whether you’re a lifelong resident, as I am, or a neighbor we’re welcoming to the community, to vote on May 12th for Beth Mason, Raul Morales, Vinnie Addeo and Anthony Pasquale.
They represent the future but only you, the voters, can represent the change this community so desperately needs to bring us to a place of hope and fiscal responsibility.
Sincerely,
George A. Ortiz
