Thank you for supporting me in my time of need

Dear Editor:

On behalf of myself, my husband and my children, I’d like to thank all my friends, especially those from the SHS Class of ’87, my former Secaucus neighbors, my extended family members, and, in some cases, perfect strangers, for attending the recent “Friends of Isy Pasta Dinner” held for me and for their generosity. It was heart-warming and therapeutic to see so many people express their love, support and prayers during this difficult medical crisis I and my family are experiencing.

There are many individuals that worked so long and hard to put this fundraising event together that it’s impossible to thank each one individually, but they know who they are and how much I appreciate their efforts. There are a few people who deserve to be acknowledged separately because without them, this event would not have taken place. I express sincere gratitude to the Immaculate Conception Church community for allowing us the use of the school gymnasium. Very special thanks are extended to Alex Menendez and the Natoli family for providing the main course at the dinner and to the Massaro and Zotello families of Burger Stop/Pizza Stop for providing all the appetizers. I also gratefully acknowledge the beautiful centerpieces from Entenmann’s Florist.

A very special thank-you is sincerely extended to Secaucus resident Joe Segro for donating a motorized wheelchair and a chair/stair glide that was installed inside my home. These medical necessities, which were not covered by health insurance, have very much improved my quality of life by providing me easier access within my home. In that same vein, I also want to acknowledge the donation of a four-foot metal ramp by the Secaucus branch of Concentra Medical Center, which allows me to more easily get in and out of my house with the wheelchair.

It is the people of this community exhibiting such displays of generosity, love, concern and support that remind me of why Secaucus was such a wonderful place to grow up. It was heart-warming to return and share that experience and that feeling again and to show my husband and children why Secaucus is such a special place.

Sincerely,

Isabella “Isy” Walker Terrone
