Dear Editor:
As long time residents of Jersey City with children in the school system, we will be the first to say that we did not vote for Steven Fulop when he ran in 2005. This May, we are looking forward to right our wrong and vote to re-elect him.
Our elected municipal representatives, the Mayor and Council have made it a policy to look the other way and pretend that the schools aren’t their problem, that transparency in government is not an issue that voices of the public don’t matter. And that crime and taxes are perfect in the city.
The one lone voice for accountability on the city level has been Steven Fulop, who represents Ward E on the City Council. Since being first in 2005, Steve has demanded accountability, has exposed the waste of our taxpayer dollars and worked with the community more than any councilperson we have seen in the past or present. We are not looking for a rubber stamp on the council, but are looking for someone who will stand up for us and go along when the issue is right and fight when it is necessary as well. Steven Fulop has a track record of this, from pushing pay to play reform, getting parks renovated, oversight in government, and pushing for accountability for lower taxes.
We are supporting Councilman Steven’s Fulop’s re-election efforts this spring and hope that concerned parents and residents throughout Ward E will join us in supporting Steven Fulop.
Yours truly,
Iris Kufert-Rivo & Phil Rivo
