Mason team has qualities to serve city

Dear Editor:
As you may know, I am a candidate for Mayor on Tuesday, May 12th. This election is especially important because our city faces serious fiscal and management challenges that will require a lot of hard work and innovative and dynamic ideas to resolve the problems we face.
When preparing for my candidacy, I met with many different potential City Council running mates because I feel we need the absolute best leadership possible to help fix Hoboken. I am so proud to be working with my three running mates, who each have a unique background and an unwavering commitment to our community’s best interests.
Vinny Addeo is the president of the New Jersey State Council of Machinists and a hard-working union organizer. A certified pilot, Vinny earned a Masters of Science from the University of Massachusetts. He has the courage and the passion to stand up for the hard-working people of Hoboken every single day. As our Councilman, he’ll make sure every single one of your hard-earned tax dollars is well-spent.
Raul Morales II is a Hoboken High School graduate who received a B.A. from Brown University and a law degree from Rutgers University Law School. He diligently worked as a Congressional Aide in Washington, D.C., alongside federal legislators to help allocate federal stimulus money for Hoboken. Raul understands the importance of restoring stability to Hoboken’s government, and he believes strongly that today’s decisions always have an impact on our future – that’s why he will never forsake our city’s future for political gain.
Anthony Pasquale is a professional accountant with advanced management training from Harvard Business School. A former senior vice president of AXA-Equitable Life, he oversaw $55 billion in investment assets and he will bring his skills and experience to the City Council and help trim the fat from our budget and eliminate wasteful spending.
Our slate is representative of all walks of life in Hoboken, not a collection of “yes” votes beholden to outside political interests. Our team is distinguished by competence, experience and creativity – characteristics that will serve Hoboken well in these challenging times.
I have great respect for the many other individuals who came forth and offered to support my candidacy and run with me. Many of these concerned individuals have come together to support our team to bring Hoboken the change it so desperately needs.
As Mayor and Council, we will eliminate wasteful spending, lower taxes, balance the budget, make government accountable and advocate for a balanced economic-development plan. We will work hard to help heal the wounds of the past and build a better future for all of us because we firmly believe Hoboken’s best days are still ahead. On Tuesday May 12th, please vote for me and the entire Mason Team for One Hoboken. We have only one goal — Yours.

Sincerely,

Councilwoman Beth Mason
Candidate for Mayor
