Ladson defends Zimmer against ‘slur’ charge

Dear Editor:

Dawn Zimmer is the only REFORM candidate in the current Hoboken Mayoral race. Dawn is committed to running a positive campaign focusing on basic issues about the future of Hoboken.
I have lived in Hoboken since 1959 and it is not surprising to me that candidates and groups that want to keep things the way they are, have started spreading spiteful stories and rumors in an effort to undermine Dawn’s growing popularity.
Hoboken 411 is twisting a story about Dawn saying that she used offensive language. While giving a court deposition about an election dispute, Dawn just repeated a vulgar racial slur hurled at me by one of her 2007 election opponent’s team. I told Dawn about it and when asked about it, under oath, she recalled it accurately. This is what one is required to do in a legal proceeding.
This is part of a disgraceful old Hoboken versus new Hoboken campaign strategy. This false and hurtful allegation represents the worst kind of Hoboken politics. They just want to keep all the pieces of the pie for themselves.
Dawn is the most open, accepting person I know. She loves everyone in the 4th Ward and she has fought for Housing Authority residents. And we love her.
I am supporting Dawn for Mayor because she can lead all of us to a better future. I hope you will join me in voting for Dawn.

Thank you,

Frank Ladson
