Mayoral candiate Cammarano endorsed by Tremitiedi

Former Hoboken Fire Chief Richard Tremitiedi, a frequent speaker at council meetings and letter writer to the Reporter, has announced whom he’s supporting for Hoboken mayor: Councilman Peter Cammarano.
Cammarano’s camp sent us a release:
“Former Hoboken Fire Chief and City Council candidate Richard Tremitiedi announced his support and endorsement for Councilman Peter Cammarano to be the next Mayor of Hoboken. ‘As a longtime resident, fire chief, and civic activist, I am honored to endorse Councilman Peter Cammarano and his diverse team, Frances Rhodes-Kearns, Michael Novak, and Angel Alicea,’ stated Tremitiedi. ‘They will be there for every resident of Hoboken and truly represent the hard working families of our city.’
“Tremitiedi had voiced his reservations about the State Monitor’s role in Hoboken and understood the control Judy Tripodi would have over decisions made in Hoboken city government. Now that public safety layoffs are imminent, those reservations are being realized.
“As Chair of the Public Safety Committee on the Hoboken City Council, Cammarano understands the important role firefighters and police officers play in keeping Hoboken residents safe.
“Cammarano has called for Tripodi to find other areas to trim the budget and make it more efficient, but not layoffs of public safety workers that could put Hoboken families and residents in danger.
“Peter Cammarano is the only candidate running for Mayor who did his job last year by voting to pass a City budget – which would have stopped the State takeover and prevented the ensuing 47% tax increase. Cammarano has come out strongly against laying off public safety employees in Hoboken and wanted to avoid State control by passing a budget last year.”
