The trend in Jersey City of recent shootings of young people appears to have claimed another victim.
Jalil Spears, 22, who lived in the Montgomery Gardens housing complex, was shot and killed early Saturday morning, according to a published report.
The shooting occurred at the Booker T. Washington projects.
This was the ninth murder of the year in Jersey City, and came on the heels of several shootings of young people in their teens and early twenties recently, not all of them fatal.
Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said some of the shootings are likely related, possibly to an ongoing gang situation in that area.
