These three teens, from Jersey City, are part of 105 New Jersey teenangers in the program’s 29th graduating class. National Guard ChalleNGe Youth Program, located at Fort Dix, began in 1992 with the goal of identifying at-risk teenagers who have dropped out of high school and turning their lives around with a combination of military-based training, community service, and mentorship. These teens receiving a second chance must be legal New Jersey residents between the ages of 16 to 18 years old, drug-free, and have no pending legal issues. Cadets who successfully complete the program are eligible to receive a State of New Jersey High School Diploma. The graduation ceremony took place at the Timmerman Center in Fort Dix.
