Citywide reading day

Dear Editor:

Hoboken High School is planning a city wide reading day on Sat., May 9, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. We will have read aloud events as well as writing, theatre, and other literacy activities for all ages in several classrooms at Hoboken High School. Please mark your calendar to attend. You will enjoy a rich variety of stories.
Do you have a favorite book to share? In addition to participants, we are also looking for readers. Please consider selecting a 15-minute reading from your favorite book to read to children or adolescents.
Do you wonder how to interest your children in reading? We will also have parent/family workshops to share ideas and strategies that encourage literacy in and around the home. We want to help create life-long readers.
Looking to build your home library? We have invited the Friends of the Hoboken Library to hold a gently-used book sale in our cafeteria. Prices will be gentle, too!
Here’s how to sign up:
To volunteer as a reader, please call Jessica Vega at (201) 356-3703 or email jvega@hoboken.k12.nj.us A.S.A.P. Please provide the name of the book or book excerpt that you will read and the target audience of listeners.
To attend a parent workshop, simply indicate your interest to Jessica Vega at the number above. When you arrive that day, you will be dictated to the workshop classroom.
To attend as a participant, just come to HHS on May 9 between 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Bring your children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters!
We hope you will attend. Please give us a call. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Lorraine Cella
