After leading several recent public protests against this year’s tax increase in West New York, Dr. Felix Roque said he filed a letter of intent to recall Mayor Sal Vega Thursday.
“They filed a letter of intent, which is the first step,” said Vega on Friday. “That has to be reviewed and then, it is up to them to take any additional steps.” He added that he is prepared to participate in the next regularly scheduled election in 2011.
“The recall is a waste of taxpayers’ money,” said Vega. “The election pattern calls for an election in 2011, and that’s what I expect will be the election, and that’s when candidates can choose to run.”
