The DAR thanks Bayonne

To the Editor:
The DAR Support Our Female Troops Drive was a great success. Once again, the people of Bayonne were extremely supportive and generous. We collected many, many items for our female troops.
Special thanks go to Peggy Lanni, director of the Office of Aging, who allowed the DAR to place collection bins in City Hall and the Fourth Street Senior Center. Also, Dr. Richard Maczuga, chiropractor of the Bayonne Health and Wellness Center, for placing a bin in his office uptown. He is a Vietnam veteran and always supports our drives for American military personnel and veterans. Thanks to the F. A. Mackenzie Post ladies auxiliary who collected and donated items.
As a women’s group, the DAR wanted to have an event during Women’s History Month to support our female troops and it was wonderful to have another women’s group join us.
Thank you to the “Bayonne Community News,” the “Jersey Journal” and Cablevision for publishing announcements about the drive. Lastly, thanks to Angie Papaccio, who donated boxes and tape for packing, and my husband, Anthony, who picked up the many bags and boxes of donations.
Once again, thank you, Bayonne.
