BHS Choir is most thankful for Bayonne’s generosity

To the Editor:
What better way can one give thanks to all the wonderful people of the Bayonne community who so generously gave money to support the recent BHS Choir canning drive? As president of the BHS Choral Parents’ Association, I, Mary Beth Golden, would like to begin by extending a huge thank you to all the kindhearted citizens who so willingly dug into their pockets to contribute to this worthwhile cause. The money raised helps defray the cost of the students’ upcoming vocal competition trip to Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Furthermore, it was the weekend of April 4 and 5 that this canning drive took place at the corner of 25th Street and Broadway. I can assure you that Saturday was no ordinary spring day, as we had unusual cold gusty winds that were extremely intense. Standing there for countless hours enduring these frigid conditions was certainly no easy task. However, it was the kindness and outpouring of warm hearts from all you Bayonne people that certainly made the difference. Once again, you people proved that Bayonne is an amazing hometown, one filled with many kindhearted and caring people who will go the extra mile to make such a difference.
I would like to thank each and every one of you who took the time to stop and contribute, as well as those who shared such wonderful words of praise concerning the Bayonne High School Choir. Also, I extend sincere thanks to all the choral group members who gave their time to come out and lend a helping hand, particularly Mary Petrillo, Marilyn Ramos, Maryann Rivera and Evelyn Bonilla, who endured with me those bitter cold blustery winds.
Of course, I am most grateful for my vice president, Maria Duffy, and extend to her a very “special” thank you for her assistance with organizing this event, as well as for all her help throughout the year.
May all of you be blessed for the kindness and generosity you continue to show. It is people like you who go the extra distance that really make a tremendous difference! Because of people like you, this canning drive was a great success. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you!
