Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy’s campaign team announced on Monday that state Sen. Sandra Cunningham, (D-31), widow of the late, former Jersey City Mayor Glenn D. Cunnngham will announce her endorsement of Healy (see photo) for mayor at a press scheduled for Tuesday, 1:30 p.m. at City Hall, 280 Grove St. in Jersey City. No further details were provided on the announcement.
Cunningham represents the 31st District, which covers all of Bayonne and southern and central sections of Jersey City. This endorsement would be another major one for Healy, who has gotten endorsements from Gov. Jon Corzine, Newark Mayor Cory Booker and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Also rumored is an endorsement from President Barack Obama, whom Healy supported during Obama’s presidential campaign last year. – Ricardo Kaulessar
