A mass of Christian burial was held April 4 at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Jersey City for Jonathan Charles Epps, 22. He passed away March 28. A life long resident of Jersey City and the son of Jersey City Superintendent of Schools Dr. Charles T. Epps Jr., Jonathan was a student at New Jersey City University, where he was pursuing his bachelor’s degree. He attended elementary school at Our Lady of Mercy and Jersey City Public School No. 28, and graduated from St. Peter’s Prep in 2005. He loved playing baseball and played for championship teams at St. Peter’s Prep and for the Jersey City Cobras. Jonathan spent much of his free time composing music and enjoyed sharing his arrangements with friends and family. In keeping with Jonathan’s loving spirit and zest for life, it was his family’s wish that Jonathan’s final generous act was to give the gift of life to others through organ donations to the New Jersey Sharing Network. He was the son of Barbara Mendolla and Dr. Charles T. Epps Jr.; the brother of Toni Ann, Lauren Ashley and Ashley; the brother-in-law of Gus and Darrell; the grandson of the late Lorenzo, Veronica Russo, Rev. Charles T. Epps, Sr.; the uncle of Makenzie, Gus, Nicholas and Jordan; the nephew of Judy, Tommy, William and Paula, and the cousin of TJ, Jennifer, Jimmy, JJ and Nikki. He is also survived by Pauline Epps. Services arranged by the Riotto Funeral Home, Jersey City.
