Two ways to donate to local ‘Relay of Life’ vs. cancer

One in three people will be diagnosed with cancer within their lifetime. Hoboken’s Relay for Life will be held May 16 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Pier A Park. Through that, you and your team can raise awareness about cancer and raise funds to support the American Cancer Society’s mission of eliminating cancer. It is a great way for the community to work together in the fight against cancer. In New York and New Jersey In 2007, Relay For Life raised well over $ 18.7 million. More than 176,000 people took part in Relay. 15,000 of them were cancer survivors.
Teams of people, including local businesses, friends, families, hospitals, religious organizations and clubs, gather at community sites and take turns walking, jogging or running laps. After nightfall, hundreds/thousands of luminaria candles dedicated to loved ones line the track and are left burning throughout the night to remind participants of the incredible importance of their contributions.
The money raised at Relay and at the fundraising events held beforehand saves lives by funding cutting-edge cancer research, early detection and prevention education, advocacy efforts, and life-affirming patient services.
