Dear Editor:
As a Jersey City resident of 10 years I wonder if I stand alone at wondering why my clothes don’t get as clean as they’re supposed to. (Perhaps I’m getting old and cranky.)
It has come to my attention that the Laundromats in Jersey City are ripping the public off. Basically you drop your 4-8 quarters in the machine, add soap, press temp and you expect to have your clothes done the way you want to. Well, to all Jersey City residents, I want you all to know that I have checked three Laundromats and none have hot water. Basically my guess is they turned it off to save money.
You the consumer are probably unaware that you are washing clothes in ice cold water. I have always assumed that when you press hot it means hot. If not why then don’t they leave a sign on the door that we wash your clothes with cold water only. Does it matter to those who have to use the machines? Well, it matters to me. It’s a shame they get away with this.
To the rest of us it’s a waste of money with no options anywhere. One lady looked at me like “yea and…” shrugged her shoulders, turned away as she smiled. Yup, not a thing I can do.
