Dear Editor:
On January 22 I attended the Bd of Education meeting at Huber St. School. During the “citizen’s comments” portion of the meeting, I addressed the Board regarding the status of the new created Assistant Superintendent position. Superintendent Randina responded by saying the appointment of this position has been postponed until all primary needs are satisfied.
I commend the Superintendent and the Board Trustees on their decision in this matter. In the past I have lobbied to get this position tabled and eventually won the battle. I have decided that I could be an active and effective member of the Board; therefore I have petitioned to run for the open seat this coming April.
With nearly 30 years experience in Building Operations and Maintenance, I know I would be an asset to the Building and Grounds Committee. We recently were able to reduce operating cost at my place of employment by 20-25 percent. We did this by making significant renovations to our HVAC and lighting systems. These investments have less than a 3 year pay-back by reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 1/3. We are among the first few buildings to receive an Energy Star Rating.
I have many ideas on how to lower operating costs of our schools to benefit the taxpayers of Secaucus. With my vast knowledge and my persistent questioning of “How our tax dollars are being spent,” I believe I can do a great job as a Board of Education Trustee. I am asking for your support on Election Day.
