Dear Editor:
Councilwoman Terry LaBruno once again at last night’s Hoboken City Council meeting displayed the enormous integrity that defines her as an elected official and more importantly as a person in voting to pass the 2009 fiscal year budget.
Councilwoman LaBruno at great risk to her own tenure in office has stood steadfastly on the side of what is right for the residents of our community. At no point has she wavered from her position that injecting politics into the budget process would result in causing harm to the taxpayers.
The 2009 budget has over $30 million in uncollected taxes and a tax reserve in it that will not appear in the 2010 budget and would not have appeared in the 2009 budget if the City Council had followed Councilwoman LaBruno’s lead and passed last year’s budget.
In no uncertain terms, Councilwoman LaBruno has stood fervently on this position. And she has also worked closely and with great respect since day one with the State Fiscal Monitor Judy Tripodi. Councilwoman LaBruno has always put the good of the people of Hoboken first. Her integrity is irrefutable, and her love for the City of Hoboken will define her legacy as a member of the Hoboken City Council.
Sincerely,
Mayor David Roberts
