Early Friday morning, a teenage girl died in a car when her friend allegedly crashed into a railroad bridge near 83rd Street and the CSX railroad tracks in North Bergen.
Her friend, a young North Bergen man who was driving the car, has since been charged with driving while intoxicated.
The CSX Corporation, an international transportation company, is a federally regulated entity. Because the accident occurred on their property, CSX police are taking the lead in the investigation. Calls have been placed to them for more details.
The North Bergen Police and the Hudson County Prosecutors Office were unable to comment last week.
More details will be posted as they become available, and in our print edition of the North Bergen Reporter this weekend.
