A funeral service was held March 7 at the Ocean Avenue Baptist Church, Jersey City, for Louis Small. He died March 1 at Lourdes Medical Center in Willingboro. Born in Pineville, S.C., he moved to Jersey City and lived there 52 years, relocating to Willingboro three years ago. He was employed as a truck driver by Active Express for 30 years, retiring in 1993. He served as a Deacon at Ocean Avenue Baptist Church for three years. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bernice Gourdine Small; two sons, Richard Small and Samuel Smith; eight daughters, Catherine, Chalanda, Carol M., Christine and Louise Small, Theresa Brooks, Jennette Wallace and Arlene Parker; 27 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren; a sister Rosetta Small; one uncle, two aunts, six sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
