Sad Poem (rewind, please)

He was fired,
yet what transpired
afterwards
was quite a scene,
was right down mean…
I don’t have the words.

All backs were turned,
all knives were drawn,
Lord “Gossip” reigned;
He, broken-hearted,
quietly departed…
sadness remained. – Jacqueline Hallenbeck
