Tom Vincent of Hoboken sent us this announcement:
“A letter to the voters in Hoboken.
It has been reported that I am collecting signed petitions to run for mayor.
Oddly enough, these reports are entirely true.
To that end, here is an update to those entirely true reports:
I’d like to invite anyone interested in this year’s Hoboken mayoral race to visit my web site at
http://tomvincentformayor.org
I am entering the race as an independent.
On the site I’ve tried to keep things concise and clear, I hate those mile-long screeds with empty platitudes and meaningless puffery. We need ideas and action.
I’ll be updating the site as we go along, so make it a stop on your surfing tour and you’ll always know where I stand. Also, having visited other candidate’s sites, it seems relevant to point this out: Everything on tomvincentformayor.org is written by me, Tom Vincent. I have no publicity or image people, no copywriters or sloganeers (is “sloganeer” an actual job title?).
All of this — the site, the campaign, the ideas behind them — is a work in progress and I welcome any feedback, criticism, support, or suggestions. I’ve already learned more than I ever imagined from people I’ve met so far. I can’t wait to see what else is out there.
Most importantly, I still need signed petitions to make this a reality.
So take a look at the site and if you’d like to see these issues and ideas in the public dialog, let me know and I’ll get a petition to you. Or you can come to one of the signing events (actually, just me and a clip board at a scheduled place and time) that I’ll be setting up this week. Check the site.
I know this is a bit of a long shot, but I also know that it is possible if enough people believe we can break with the past and build a better city government.
City hall needs a reboot, lets have some fun and wake up the system.”
