Erin Peterson, 24, met her fiancé when they were both working at the ShopRite in Hoboken four years ago. This coming July, their life will be full of magic, as they plan to wed in one of their favorite places – Disney World in Florida.
“We always like going there,” Peterson said last week.
Peterson, who sells classified ads for the Hudson Reporter’s chain of nine newspapers, is described by co-workers as “hardworking,” “pleasant” and “very kind to all of her co-workers and clients.” For this reason, she is the Reporter’s employee of the month for February.
“Erin completes her work and anything we ask of her accurately and correctly, is always courteous with her clients and co-workers, and always has a smile on her face,” said Reporter Co-Publisher Lucha Malato. “She is an asset to our company and we are fortunate to have her working here.”
Peterson grew up in Hoboken and graduated from the Academy of St. Aloysius in Jersey City. She attended Hudson County Community College and hopes to return to school some day to become either a teacher or a pediatric nurse. If she teaches, she’d like to handle early childhood education, perhaps kindergarten or first grade.
In November of 2005, Peterson came to work for the Hudson Reporter.
“I read it all the time,” she said. “I was interested in the stories, how it was all put together. When I came for the interview, I saw how everyone was so friendly and got along.”
Her co-workers agreed when they nominated her. One said, “Erin is one of the most pleasant people to work with.” Another wrote, “Erin is hardworking, pleasant to customers, always willing to take on other tasks that are not part of her job requirements.”
After her wedding in July, Peterson and her new husband plan to take a Disney cruise. When asked what her favorite Disney movie is, she smiled and said, “Cinderella.”
But does her fiancé treat her like a princess?
“Yeah,” she said with a big smile.
