Secaucus Councilman Michael Gonnelli was involved in a car accident in that town this morning around 11 a.m. when his car skidded in the snow and rolled onto its side.
Linda Gonnelli, the councilman’s wife, was in the car at the time of the accident. The Gonnellis were shaken, but were otherwise uninjured in the one-car accident. No other injuries were reported at the scene.
The accident is being investigated, but appears to be snow-related. Parts of Hudson County were dumped with up to nine inches of snow overnight and this morning.
According to one witness, most of the damage to the vehicle appeared to be to the driver’s side. Councilman Gonnelli, who also serves as deputy chief of the Secaucus Volunteer Fire Department, was driving his town-issued fire chief SUV at the time of the accident.
Shortly after the accident Mayor Dennis Elwell, Town Administrator David Drumeler, and Councilman John Reilly, who serves as the council’s liaison to the police department, were at the scene.
