Lorena Rios, an artist from Jersey City has been awarded a residency at the Ragdale Foundation in the winter/spring season of 2009. Ragdale is a nonprofit, internationally acclaimed artists’ community located thirty miles north of Chicago in Lake Forest, Illinois. This honor is bestowed upon Lorena Rios in recognition of outstanding work. Acceptance to Ragdale is highly competitive. Recipients are chosen through an application process, with primary emphasis placed on anonymous evaluation of the
applicant’s work sample by professionals in each genre. Ragdale is located on the grounds of architect Howard Van Doren Shaw’s Arts and Crafts style home, which was built in 1897. The foundation was established in 1976 to provide peaceful, uninterrupted time for working artists.
